NEXT EVENT: FRIDAY JUNE 11TH AT HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY

By: Kari Shear-Carlson
(Tuesday, June 8, 2010) The ASA OREGON Midwest Truck Tour had another great race this past Sunday afternoon at Elko Speedway in conjunction with the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net. Driver of the #73 Pathfinder Chassis truck, Jerry Wood hung on to take his second consecutive feature victory of the season. “The truck was really good. Bill Collins made me work really hard, so it wasn’t easy. Well, it’s never easy, but it was a lot of fun today,” exclaimed Jerry Wood.

Vince Wilkenson and Interstate Truck Driving School driver, Bill Collins led the field to the green flag for the 40 lap main event. Collins jumped out in front to take the early lead. The first caution of the day was on lap three when Nate Anderson spun on the backstretch. On lap 14, the battle for the lead started to heat up when John Wood and Conrad Jorgenson were able to get by Collins. The two got together on the next lap sending both to restart at the rear of the field.

WIMMER TAKES OVER POINT LEAD

By: Kari Shear-Carlson
(Monday, June 7, 2010) After rain washed out any chance of racing on Saturday at Elko Speedway, the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net completed the full schedule of events on Sunday under blue skies and lots of sun.

ROSS KENSETH TOPS THE FIELD FOR FIRST EVER ASAMT VICTORY
Ross Kenseth used the outside groove to hang on to the victory after a hard-fought, side-by-side battle with ASA Midwest Tour Swiss Colony Touring Star, Chris Wimmer. This was only Kenseth’s second time at the 3/8 mile oval.

RACE DAY TROUBLES SHAKE UP THE POINTS
Chris Wimmer has taken over the point lead from 2009 ASAMT Champion, Steve Carlson, who dropped out of the feature event on lap 44 due to mechanical problems. Wimmer leads the ASAMT ahead of race winner, Ross Kenseth by five points as they head into the third event of the season. Carlson is fourth, 34 points out of the lead.
