LOCAL WIR FAVORITES TAKE ON SAUTER, WIMMER, AND THE STARS OF THE ASAMT

By: Kari Shear-Carlson
(Friday, July 30, 2010)- Regional racing heroes seem to be few and far between these days, but let’s face it, what would short track racing be without them? There is no question that Wisconsin race fans are proud of the accomplishments of those who have made it to the next level, but there is also no denying that those who have stayed behind have become some of the most successful and competitive drivers in the country.

This Tuesday night, August 3rd, the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net will head to Wisconsin International Raceway for the annual “Dixieland 150.” Nowhere else will race fans be able to see NASCAR competitors, Johnny Sauter and Scott Wimmer, along with the stars of the ASA Midwest Tour go up against local hot shoes like 11-time, (that’s right, 11-time), WIR track champion, Terry Baldry, youngster Kyle Calmes, current track record holder, Andy Monday, and the 2008 and 2009 WIR Champion, Jeff Van Oudenhoven, for one of the most prestigious events in Midwest auto racing.

(Friday, July 23, 2010) Tradition is defined as “a system of behavior followed by people continuously from generation to generation.” In 1981 a Tuesday night tradition was born and generation after generation have taken part in the annual “Dixieland 150” at Wisconsin International Raceway. On Tuesday, August 3rd, the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net will continue to carry on the tradition with a new generation of drivers.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CONDITIONING THE KEYS TO SUCCESS

By: Kari Shear-Carlson
(Friday, July 9, 2010) There is no question that the American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net has some of the most talented stock car drivers in the country. But what makes a driver so talented?

Chances are you have all heard someone say that “racing is just a bunch of cars going around in circles.” Or, “racing is not a sport and race car drivers are not athletes.” Well if you have friends that do not share the same level of interest in the sport, chances are you have had to defend your position a time or two.
