ASA MIDWEST TOUR CAR COUNT SUCCESS DUE TO A TEAM EFFORT

American Speed Association PR
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Wednesday, May 19, 2010) - Their highest was 68 and their lowest was 28, but have averaged around 40 cars per event in the first three seasons. The ASA Midwest Tour continued that momentum as they entered the 2010 season with 42 cars at their season opener event at the Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway on May 2nd.

“One thing we have been really blessed with is the car count. We have averaged a little over 40 cars at each event in the first three seasons and had 42 at our fourth season opener a few weeks ago,” Tim Olson, ASAMT President said. “A lot of that is due to having common rules with many of the tracks in the Midwest which makes it real easy for the local drivers to come and compete with us. It’s the drivers, the fans and the sponsors that is the main focus of our tour.”

For Tim Olson and Steve Einhaus, the series co-owners, their success has been due to many reasons. But the main one is the team effort from their staff. “I contribute a lot of the success to the people we have involved with the tour,” Olson said. “Steve does an awesome job with sponsors, and Mike ‘Lumpy’ Lemke with the tech keeps the drivers coming back because they feel they get a fair shake. They know when they come, they are going to be competing on an even playing field. We also have Dennis (Huth) and Shannon (Stenberg) for support at ASA in Daytona Beach, Florida with the ASA sanction. It comes down to everyone having the same vision and working towards one goal. It’s not just me and its just not Steve, it’s the whole group and that is why I think everything is successful.”

And that vision is also shared by the sponsors who support the series as well where the ASA Midwest Tour has become the central place for sponsors to work with each other in coming up with some unique partnerships, “We have a lot more to offer to the sponsors with the addition of our support divisions (ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour & ASA Midwest Truck Tour), and more wider demographic of people, and an introduction of our partners into a Business-2-Business club if you will,” Steve Einhaus, ASAMT Vice-president said. “We are connecting our partners with each other to utilize the avenues of providing retail discounts to over 200,000 employees and double that in regional race fans.”

In fact, Einhaus had a busy but successful off-season, “This was the first year that we sold out of our contingency program in a matter of weeks and companies were contacting us to be a part of the program. That says a lot,” Einhaus exclaimed.

With the high car count at each of their events, fans who attend an ASA Midwest Tour race will see not only some of the best Super Late Model drivers in the Midwest, but many are recognized by the national media as well.

The competition at each event starts with qualifying to make the show, followed by the last chance race or the last opportunity to make the main event which many times will appear to be a feature field by itself.

For many competitors, a win is just making the starting field of an ASA Midwest Tour event.

“The ASA Midwest Tour has brought back the stellar Super Late Model racing that the Midwest racing fans recalled having in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with the original ASA Series and the late John McKarns ARTGO Series,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “We have been very impressed with their solid car counts which in return gives the fans some awesome racing. Every time I get an opportunity to attend an ASA Midwest Tour event, I know I am going to see something special and I am usually not disappointed.”
