CARLSON DOES IT AGAIN

(Wednesday, May 5, 2010) Another great crowd was on hand at Madison International Speedway for the second annual “Joe Shear Classic 136” presented by ECHO Chain Saws on Sunday, May 2nd. The American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net kicked off the 2010 racing season with 2009 ASAMT Champion, Steve Carlson, taking home the checkered flag. Chris Wimmer claimed the ECHO/Oregon Cutting Systems "Quick Cut" Qualifier Award and finished fifth in the feature event.
TRAVIS SAUTER TAKES HOME THE HEDMAN HUSLER OF THE RACE AWARD
For the second year in a row, Travis Sauter advanced the most positions in the “Joe Shear Classic 136.” Starting from 17th position, Travis moved up 14 positions to earn his third-place podium finish and the Hedman Husler of the Race award.
CARLSON TAKES THE EARLY POINT LEAD
With his victory, Steve Carlson takes the early point lead over Ross Kenseth by a mere seven points. ECHO/Oregon Cutting Systems "Quick Cut" Qualifier Award winner, Chris Wimmer is in third only one point behind Kenseth.
ASA OREGON® MIDWEST TRUCK TOUR
The ASA Midwest Truck Tour made its ASA debut at MIS on Sunday afternoon as well. Jerry Wood took home the victory in the inaugural Truck Tour event taking an 18-point lead over fast qualifier, Tom McClintock. The Trucks will join the ASAMT at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN on Saturday, June 5th, 2010.
ASA MIDWEST SPORTSMAN TOUR NOTES
After blowing a motor in practice on Saturday, Bobby Wilberg returned on Sunday to clinch the inaugural Sportsman feature. Wilberg leads the Sportsman division by only one point over quick qualifier and heat winner, Jay Kalbus. The next event for the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour is Saturday, May 15th, 2010 at Dells Raceway Park.
“JOE SHEAR CLASSIC 136” TELEVISED
The “Joe Shear Classic 136” presented by ECHO Chain Saws will air May 15th on Fox Sports Wisconsin at 11:30AM and Fox Sports North at 3:30PM. Coverage will include the super late model “Joe Shear Classic 136” and the ASA Midwest Truck Tour “Joe Shear Classic 40.”
